The recent Monte Carlo Rally not only served as the opening round of the 2013 WRC season but also proved, once again, to be one of the most spectacular events on any motorsport calendar. Ultimately won by the retired Sébastien Loeb, fans of the sport also got their first glimpse of the new Volkswagen WRC team.
Another new addition to this season (and hopefully one that we’ll be seeing a lot more of) is the drone-eye-camera. This remote-control drone (also recently used on live cricket broadcasts) is able to get closer to the action than a helicopter, yet also capture angles that would otherwise be impossible for a conventional camera crew.
We especially love the overhead shots of the WRC cars sliding around a snow-covered hairpin!
