Sasol Volkswagen’s Enzo Kuun is getting a new co-driver for the 2003 season. Pierre Arries, who was in the hot seat last season, is unable to compete this year due to business commitments.-
– “I’m very glad that I got Guy to navigate for me this season, Someone like Pierre Arries is very hard to replace as there are not many top class navigators around. Fortunately Guy is one of those, and I am sure I’ll do even better than last year,” said Kuun.-
– “I was in the unfortunate situation of having to choose between my business and rally careers, and business won on this occasion. My being away at rallies was beginning to impact negatively on my business commitments and I had to arrest that situation. I am hoping things will change at some point in the future and I can go back to rallying as I love it with all my heart. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Volkswagen and with Enzo, but this is how it has to be, for now at least,” said a disappointed Arries.-
– Sasol Volkswagen Rally Team manager Johan Evertse said the team is very sad to see Pierre Arries go, and wished him well in his career.-
– The Sasol Volkswagen Rally Team is aiming for its third successive S.A. Drivers’ Championship and is sponsored by Sasol DualFuel, Volkswagen Genuine Parts, Holiday Inn and Hella.-
