As motorsport fans are getting ready to witness Porsche’s return to Le Mans, it seems we might be in for another treat in the next few years. We already know that Ferrari is interested in making a return to Le Mans, and this single picture of what could be an LMP1 prototype, is the best indication yet about the company’s intentions.
Try not to be influenced by the camouflaged stickers and it is quite clear that the Italian manufacturer has used several parts from its latest hypercar, the LaFerrari. It is unclear when Ferrari will make its return to Le Mans, but a safe bet will be 2016, especially if you take into account the amount of time it took Porsche to develop its new LMP1 race car for this year’s race.
Expect Ferrari’s LMP1 racer to be unveiled during the course of 2014, even if it will continue undergoing testing thereafter.
