The first of the 8 fifteen-minute programmes covering and giving insight into the people and happenings on the Sasol DualFuel S.A. Rally Championship 2003, “Sasolrallyscene” will be broadcast on SABC3 this Saturday (17 May) directly after the official Austrian F1 Grand Prix qualifying screening, which commences at 14h00. –
– “Sasolrallyscene”, the same “address” of the official S.A. Rally Championship website – www.sasolrallyscene.co.za – is being magazine-style formatted to include “executive summary” highlights of past events on the 2003 calendar, but more so to profile the sport and the people involved in rallying in this country. –
– At the same time the programme will reflect on the world of rallying, with news and results from the World Rally Championship (WRC), FIA Africa Championship as well as the updates on the UK and Australian Rally championships. –
– “Sasolrallyscene” fills the same time-slot as the programme, also being aired after F1 qualifying broadcasts, on the SA Off-Road Car Racing Championship – “Inside Off-Road”. –
– The full “Sasolrallyscene” broadcast schedule for the remainder of the year is as follows (event coverage in brackets): –
– 17 May (Hitachi Power Tools Tour Natal / Total Rally South Africa) –
– 14 June (Toyota Dealer Cape Rally) –
– 5 July (Sasol Rally) –
– 2 August (Volkswagen Rally) –
– 30 August (Motorpics Mountain Trial) –
– 27 September (Subaru Cape Rally) –
– 18 October (Toyota Dealer Great North Rally) –
– Mid-November (2003 Season Review) –
– The programme, sponsored exclusively by Sasol, is in addition to the in-depth action of the 8 rounds broadcast of Topcar on Supersport (M-Net and the Supersport DStv channels). –
– It also ties in, in name and feel, with “Sasol Soccer Scene”, the SABC 2 programme dedicated each Saturday to coverage of soccer in this country, Sasol being the official sponsor of the national under-23 team, “Amaglug-glug”. –
