Wesbank Raceway’s opening blast-off takes place this weekend, 26 & 27 July offering motorsport racing like you have never seen it before with heaps of fun for the whole family. This proudly South African, world-class facility offers the following:
SATURDAY 26 JULY
National Historic Race meeting on the 2.6 kilometre circuit including Historic, Fine cars, Historic touring Cars, Porsche Cup, Lotus Challenge & Formula Libre.
SATURDAY NIGHT – 26 JULY
All the oval classes from 6pm Saturday night on the 400metre short oval including the V8 Sprints, 2 litre and 1.6 l modifieds, hotrods and ninja midjets.
SUNDAY – 27 JULY
SASCAR racing for the first time in SA on a proper NASCAR style oval on the 1 kilometre tri-oval. Plus Drag Racing including the 5 times World Pro Street Bike Champion and the man who did the Biker Boyz stunts, Rickey Gadson plus 4 top international bikers. Plus Motocross all day.
ALL WEEKEND:
AIR DISPLAYS: The Shurlok aerobatic team, a Nationwide Airlines fly-past, the Mazda Zoom Zooms, Rob Beaumont in his L39 Russian Fighter Jet & skydiving.
CRAFT MARKET – Converted stables showcase local crafting talent.
TEA GARDEN – Grassy area inside the craft market. Teas and light meals in aid of Epworth Children’s Village.
RESTAURANTS AND 5 PUBLIC BARS – You will not go hungry or thirsty!!
KARTING – Rent your own kart on our track opposite the main (South) entrance.
PLAY STATION MUSIC STAGE – Enjoy fashion, break-dancing, Junior & Miss WesBank Raceway at our 1,000 seater outdoor stage inside main entrance. Win Play Station prizes.
SLOT CAR RACING – Wooden 8-lane, 40 metre track. World class timing system. Test your reactions. 1st floor Sebring Building.
THUNDER ALLY – Racing theme arcade games and 6 pool tables, next to Jump Start CafĂ©, in Motor Museum, Sebring Building.
ABSEILING – The highest you can do!! Climb the elevator shaft of the Indy Building and abseil down. Instruction by top climbers in SA.
GLADIANTICS – Have fun on 10 event inflatable obstacle course on side of Indy building.
FIRE ENGINE AND JUMPING CASTLE – The Ekurhuleni Emergency Services will teach youngsters how to do CPR and put out fires, and the fire engine is there to be explored. Colouring in books and a jumping castle for the little ones.
LASER SPORT – Have fun shooting with laser guns. Side of Indy Building next to Gladiantics.
RACEWAY DANCE CLUB – Run on 8 cylinders into the night. Open Wednesday to Sunday nights and on race weekends. Indy Building.
FOR THE YOUNGSTERS – A Creche, ground level of the Sebring Building. Supervised. Videos, entertainers. Own playground with equipment. R35 for the day includes lunch and refreshments.,p.> MECHANICAL BULL – Situated at the Playstation music stage this bull will be available for all ages to test their balance and agility.
CYBERWORLD – Ride in the Cyberworld machine.
Plus the WesBank Raceway Go-go girls, open sessions on the music stage, a Ford Focus worth R150 to be won and fun all day for the whole family.
TICKETS
Basic admission to the WesBank Raceway for the opening weekend is R40 per day. Admission with seating on the unreserved concrete stadium and on the open grandstands is R50, seating in the Daytona and lower Indy Stadium is R60, and reserved seating at the top of the Indy double-tier stadium is R70.
Admission only to the Short Oval racing on Saturday night is R30, and R15 for children aged 6 – 16.
Like Disneyworld, WesBank Raceway has a height restriction for admission charges for children, with the exception of short oval meetings. Those under 1,5 metres tall enjoy free admission. Bookings can be made at Computicket.
If spectators purchase their tickets at Computicket, Carnival City will give them their money back in gambling vouchers. All they have to do is collect a flyer at our main entrance at visit Carnival City with their ticket and flyer within a week of our opening to redeem their gambling vouchers valued at R40 – R70, depending on the cost of their ticket.
The parking fee of R10 per car goes to the parking attendants, who will be responsible for looking after the cars.
BASIC RULING
Picnic baskets will be allowed into the infield and outfield, but not into the stadium area. No alcohol or firearms allowed.
DIRECTIONS
Off the N3 south before the road splits to Durban and Alberton. Exit 106, Rand Airport Road. Turn left after the offramp into Rand Airport Road and take the first set of lights left into WesBank Raceway.
