As Spaniard Joan “Nani” Roma claimed victory in the car section of the 2014 Dakar rally it brought the curtain down on arguably one of the toughest editions of this famous rally to date. With only half of those who began the rally on 5 January able to make it to the finish the Dakar once again lived up to its reputation as the toughest motorsport event in the world.
Last week we saw one example of a bad day at the Dakar and this week we show you just how quickly things can go pear shaped at the event. Watch as one gorge claims a quad bike and not one but two Toyota Hiluxs in the space of a few minutes.
