The LG Flatron Racing Team is hoping for a good result at East London next weekend after a successful outing at the last round in Cape Town. Martin Steyn won both Class B heats in his LG Flatron Honda V-Tech ahead of the works Toyota Team at Killarney. Teammate Arthur Cavallineas was not so fortunate after going off and collecting a wall in qualifying when he encountered dirt on the track at the fast Malmesbury corner. Cavallineas took no further part at Killarney and he will be hoping for a change of fortune in East London.-
– The team has done some development work on both cars and is expecting good results at the notoriously fast Mercedes Benz Grand Prix circuit. Steyn is running with success ballast of 70 kg, because of his victories in the previous races, and as a result may struggle a little more than Cavallineas to be on the pace.-
– The track has been known to suite the Honda’s pretty well with its mix of long straights and hairpin corners, but they can be sure of tough competition from the Works Toyota’s.-
– LG was very pleased to secure a race victory in only their second race as a sponsor and team manager Jamie Valela is expecting his vehicles to be on the rostrum more often than not this season.
