It’s time to get those cheque books out because the M-Sport Ford Puma Rally1 Hybrid car that won the opening round of the World Rally Championship in Monte Carlo is now open to purchase by privateers.
That’s right, the same spec car that veteran rallying legend Sébastien Loeb used to orchestrate a win at the 2022 season opener in Monte Carlo can now be bought by individuals with an insatiable appetite for speed and WRC competition. It comes at a hefty price and you will need some form of rallying portfolio to back up your purchase though.
Jourdan Serderidis, a Greek privateer has become the first driver in the world to buy a new-era Rally1 car after he concluded a deal for the M-Sport Ford Puma Rally1 Hybrid which he will selectively use at events throughout the World Rally Championship calendar. The first of which being in June at the Safari Rally Kenya which is in preparation for his home round; the Acropolis Rally.
Despite its win in Monte Carlo, Serderidis told DirtFish that he decided to buy the car long before its victory at the historic rally event and was not persuaded by its sole performance there.
No stranger to rallying or Ford Motorsport products, Serderidis is a leading privateer and a 2017 WRC Trophy winner and was also one of the first buyers of the Ford Fiesta R5 in 2013.
Richard Millener, the M-Sport team principal, said the sale of the first Puma Rally1 demonstrated the demand for what are the most powerful rally cars that have graced the racing scene in a long time. He further stated that “We’re really happy for Jourdan. He’s a fantastic customer for us and we look forward to working with him with the car this year.”
While no official pricing figures are given for the current Rally1 cars, fully built challengers from the previous season could cost upwards of $1 million. Still have that cheque book out?
