Eastern Cape driver Robert Wolk (Afinta Parts MINI Cooper S JCW) will once again be aiming to impress in front of his hometown fans. Wolk took a double win in Port Elizabeth last month and will be looking for a repeat performance at the famous East London track.
“It will be my first time racing the MINI in East London but the cars were so strong at the previous outing that I am confident of a good result,” explains the Wolk. “Potter’s Pass is one of my favourite corners on the racing calendar so I’m looking forward to tackling it in the MINI.”
Wolk’s nearest opposition could come from his team mate Garth Waberski (Castrol MINI Cooper S JCW), who challenged him to the flag in PE. “We had a great showing in PE and we’ll be hoping to carry that momentum through to East London. I had a great fight with Robert in both heats and hopefully we’ll be able to battle it out amongst ourselves again next weekend.”
“PE was a great result for the team. We showed the VW Golf GTi runners a clean pair of heels and we have every expectation of doing the same in East London,” adds MINI Motorsport team manager Danie Human. “We expect that the Golf’s may come back at us down the long straight but we feel confident that we will pull back the advantage through the tight infield section.”
