Race fans on the East Coast can view motorcycle racing in Durban this coming weekend after a 25-year absence. The second half of the 2014 national motorcycle circuit racing championships – SuperGP Champions Trophy – will take place on a brand new circuit laid out on the old Durban International Airport on Saturday and Sunday (23 and 24 August).
If fans cannot make their way to the race circuit, they can view all the feature race action live on Sunday between 15h00 and 16h00 on SABC 3. This will be the same for the remaining races of the season. The one-hour programme will open with a snapshot of the day’s racing so far before screening the entire race live.
“We are delighted to partner with SABC Television and to be the first to bring live national championship motor race coverage to South African fans for the first time in a great many years,” said GAS Sports Executive Director Stephen Watson.
“This is a great day for motorsport and means that thousands of motor racing fans now have a dedicated programme on free-to-air television that will cover the feature race of the Monster Energy SuperGP Champions Trophy live for the rest of the season, starting this Sunday.”
