MEDIA RELEASE For Immediate Publication Graeme Thornton, the team race technician who prepares the Class A Nashua Mobile Spec-1 BAT of Terence Marsh and Michael Whitehouse, competes within the regional championships. Together with navigator Brian James they compete in the Nashua Mobile Racing Mitsubishi powered Class S Special Vehicle. This vehicle is predominately used by the team for their Corporate days when entertaining guests with hot laps around the off-road circuit at Wesbank Raceway. Due to the teams National commitments, Thornton and James missed some of the races in the beginning of the season, but they have subsequently won all the regional races thereafter. Firstly they won the Stokkiesdraai 200 overall which was then followed up with another special vehicle and class victory at both the Mafikeng 200 and Lichtenburg 200. Their most recent victory was the Nampo 200 where they were once again the first vehicle home. According to Thornton, his mechanical and technical knowledge help him during an event, but luckily he has not had to make use of that at any of his races to date. By competing himself, this allows him to have a better understanding of what the race vehicles go through during an event and therefore he can apply his experiences when preparing Marsh’s National special vehicle. For the Nashua Mobile Racing team, off-road racing and motorsport is much more than just a sport – it forms a big part of their lives. Team Manager Sharon Marsh is also involved in both off-road and track racing, achieving a class victory on debut when participating in a very wet regional event in Parys earlier in the year. When the teams racing calendar allows her, she also competes in the Porsche Super Cup Challenge Series in a Porsche 924, where she has the opportunity to display her track skills. Marsh and Whitehouse are currently leading the Special Vehicle category in the Absa off-road championship and hope to continue their good form thereby winning their first National Championship.
