Sabat Honda driver Craig Nicholson will be looking to gain momentum following his solid fourth place finish at Kyalami two weeks ago when he takes to Cape Town’s Killarney circuit next Saturday (15 March). The Gauteng resident was reasonably pleased with his debut in the all Honda class C battle but feels there is a lot more to come from both car and driver. –
– Nicholson enjoys the fast, flowing nature of the Cape Town circuit and has achieved some of his best results there in the past. The Power Tour has also made a welcome change to Saturdays format, which will see two heats, a shorter sprint race to start with, followed by a longer heat in the late afternoon. Craig is pleased with the change and believes the fans will appreciate it too. –
– “I race because I love the competition and I also love to spend time in the car. Racing two heats at Killarney will mean more seat time and two opportunities to measure oneself against the opposition, it can only be a good thing and I believe it will create a greater spectacle for the race fans too.” Quipped the man from CAR magazine. –
– Nicholson is not completely satisfied with the handling traits of the Sabat Honda at present, but the team has some good ideas on how to improve the car. –
– Team manager Lee Phillips had the following to say about the situation “Unfortunately, some of the parts required to improve the handling have only just arrived and the team has decided to not race a car with new components prior to proper testing. Thus the car will race in Cape Town largely unchanged from the Kyalami set up.” –
– Craig shares Lee’s view “We have decided to leave the car as is for Killarney, the balance of the Sabat Honda is not as I would ideally have it, but at least we know it is reasonably competitive with the current set up. I must simply learn to work with the car this weekend and we will make some changes once we have had some time to properly test our ideas.”
