In the latest of a series of Nissan-released videos, the company takes us behind the scenes of the development of its DeltaWing race car. The first clip shows the moment the engine, loosely based on the Juke’s 1,6-litre turbocharged unit, arrives. The second clip focuses on tyre manufacturer Michelin’s challenge to develop tyres for this unique triangle-shaped racer. The two narrow front tyres proved to be the biggest challenge though.
The DeltaWing is a Nissan initiative to build a race car that weighs less than the average race car at Le Mans, and using less fuel and less tyres doing the same distance. The authorities gave Nissan the 56th entry in this 24-hour endurance race since the DeltaWing can’t be classified with any of the other race cars.
