The O’Hagan’s / Kopanong Hotel Superteam suffered a major blow when it was forced to withdraw its four car entry from the recent Toyota Dealer 400, the penultimate round of the SA Off Road Car Racing Championship…presented by Absa, on the morning of the race due to unforeseen technical problems.
The O’Hagan’s / Kopanong Hotel Superteam’s primary objective will be to protect Nic Goslar’s Class S championship lead and to ensure that Andre Botha and Beans Heydenrych clinch the Class F championship in the Superteam Chevy.
Goslar shares the championship lead with Mohammed Noor and Mohammed Moultsen and need only finish ahead of the Botswana crew to win the Class S Drivers Championship while Botha and Heydenrych have to beat Jaap Zeeman and Johannes Barwise in the Ford Cortina bakkie to win the Class F Drivers and Co-drivers Championships.
Toyota 1000 winners John Weir-Smith and Geoff Minnitt are out of the running in the Special Vehicle and Class A Championships but will nevertheless be pulling out all the stops to win the race overall in the Superteam Jimco.
Father and son Rob and Gareth Wark share driving duties in the Class B Superteam Mighty Mag and a win on the Carnival City Casino 400 could throw the cat among the pigeons as far as the Class B battle between Giel Nel and Marcus Taylor is concerned.
“The O’Hagan’s / Kopanong Hotel Superteam will be going all out to achieve its objectives and I am sure the thousands of spectators expected at the Carnival City Casino 400 will not be disappointed by our performance,” said Andre Botha.
The race starts with a Prologue at 12:00 on Friday, November 14 that will comprise two laps of the short course track at Carnival City Casino. The main event gets underway at 08:00 on Saturday, November 15.
