This year’s 90th running of the Pikes Peak Hillclimb not only saw one of the biggest crashes in the event’s history, but also featured the fastest-ever run up the fabled 20 km mountain pass. Granted, this is the first year that the entire route has been tarred (previously part gravel/part tarmac) and Pikes Peak master blaster, Nobuhiro “Monster” Tajima, suffered car trouble, Rhys Millen’s record-breaking run on the final day was nonetheless something to behold. Millen piloted his modified Hyundai Genesis Coupe through the course’s 156 turns in 09:46,164.
