Fernando Rueda/Gerhard Snyman in their Team TOTAL Mitsubishi Lancer Evo, once again won Class N4 for production cars and is now second in the title chase in Class N4, 11 points behind the leader in the class with two events to go in 2007. It was also his third overall win in the production Class N where he is lying third.
Rueda had a dismal start to the season, finishing only one of the first four rounds. The second half of the season has started well for the popular Spaniard and has seen him win both of the first two events of the second half of the season.
In Class N3, Mohammed Moosa/Henry Dearlove, in a Team TOTAL Toyota RunX, has moved to the top of the log in Class N3 when they won Class N3 on the Osram. They have also won three times and are two points clear in the title chase in N3 from Rodney Visagie, who is driving a similar car. Third in Class N3 is Michael Houghton also in a Team TOTAL Toyota RunX only one point behind Visagie.
Class A6 was won by Salie du Toit/Gert Janse van Rensburg in a Team TOTAL Toyota RunX. Craig Trott/Carolyn Swan, in a similar car to that of Du Toit is still leading the class comfortably, after finishing third on the Osram as a result of gearbox problems. Du Toit is tied for second place in the class standings with Stevan Wilken in the Pannar VW Polo Playa on 22 points, 15 points behind Trott.
After missing the VW Rally as a result of an operation, Chris de Wit was back in Class A7, coming second. De Wit lost his navigator, Patrick Yende just before the TOTAL Rally. Yende who had apparently been ill since the beginning of the year died on the Monday before the start of the TOTAL Rally. De Wit is currently third in Class A7 tied on 18 points with Tony Ball.
Rueda also finished fifth overall on the Osram Rally, the first N4 car behind the works Class S2000 entries, while Etienne Lourens/Andre Vermeulen in their Team TOTAL Class S2000 Toyota RunX finished 8th after having to overcome a variety of problems including changing a sump after stage three and a rear left hub after special stage 6.
In Zambia, the Rally Chicks. Lola and Megan Verlaque, in their Team TOTAL Subaru finished second in the last round of the African Rally Championship. They were second behind Muna Singh.
