As one of the more successfull European manufacturers at the famous race, one would think Peugeot would rest on its laurels, but that isn’t the case. After a 25 year hiatus Peugeot will make a return to the Dakar Rally.
Since departing form the World Rally and endurance racing arenas, Peugeot turned its attention to the Pike’s Peak International Hillclimb, which it won convincingly last year.
In this video the French team recounts its overall wins at the historic event and then hints at the shape of the new race machine to tackle the wilds of South America.
The driving strength will include former World Rally champion and Dakar winner Carlos Sainz, as well as Dakar legend Cyril Despres, who has won the race five-times on two wheels.
We can expect to see the race’s newest competitor, dubbed the 2008 DKR, line up in January of 2015.
