Both the class A Sasol Nissan and class B Sasol Toyota Production Car teams repeated their Kyalami podium finishes at the second round of the Vodacom Power Tour, at Killarney, Cape Town, on Saturday (2 April).
Gary Formato took a well-earned 2nd in the first 12-lapper in the Sahara series, with Sasol Nissan 350Z team-mate, Duncan Vos losing 2 grid positions to finish 4th.
Strugling with tyre wear, Vos slipped to 4th from pole in race 2, with Formato a mere 0,66 of a second behind him. The Sasol racer nevertheless was classified second overall for the day, behind Antony Tailor (BMW), with Vos 4th.
The Sasol Nissan works team will receive the required ABS software before the next round in Welkom on 30 April.
Dave Compton flew the blue and yellow Sasol Racing flag in Class B, taking 4th and 3rd in the 2 Class B races. Frustratingly, Phillip Kekana’s Sasol Toyota RunX suffered from overheating and a broken gear cable. He had to be content with a 9th and 8th on the day and is looking forward to racing a re-built car at Phakisa at the end of the month.
