The Sun City 400, round four of the action packed Absa Off Road Championship, which will be run in the Pilanesberg area on July 23 and 24 offers great spectating opportunities that will make the two hour trip from Gauteng worthwhile for off road racing fans.
The compact route, which comprises three laps of a demanding 140-kilometer loop that includes overgrown bushveld, river crossings, dongas and rocky outcrops is situated close to Sun City with the furthest spectator point from the start a mere 25-kilometres.
“Directional signage and clearly marked spectator points will ensure that no one gets lost and enjoys as many opportunities as possible to see the action,” said Off Road South Africa Race Co-ordinator, Piet van Rensburg. There will be eight clearly demarcated spectator points along the route and anyone following the action from start to finish will only have to travel 48-kilometres.”
“Only two spectator points are on well maintained gravel roads with the balance on tar roads.”
The action, which will, as always, be fast and furious, gets underway with a 40-kilometre Prologue on Friday, July 23 at 13h00 to determine starting positions for the main event, which starts at 08h00 on Saturday, July 24. The first vehicle is expected at the finish at around 14h00.
