The route for the Sun City 400, round six of the SA Off Road Championship for Production and Special Vehicles…presented by Absa, is expected to sort the men from the boys.
The event will be run in the Pilanesberg area of the North West Province on September 26 and 27 and according to the organisers, Off Road South Africa (ORSA), the three lap course will be a tough test for man and machine.
“We have not had much rain in the region and the route is rough but not a car breaker,” said route director Adri Roets. “The Sun City 400 has traditionally been an event that provides participants with varied, interesting terrain with a good balance between high speed sections and slower, rough terrain.”
“We have incorporated new sections into the route which will make it interesting for teams and spectators alike,” added Roets. The possibility of rain at this time of the year cannot be ruled out, which will add a whole new dimension to the event.”
ORSA has taken great care to plot a route that is easily accessible to spectators and the comprehensive route guide and road signs indicating spectator locations should make for a pleasant, action packed outing.
Sun City will provide fast food and refreshments at the race headquarters located at the Sun City Sport and Social Club, where the Sun City 400 will start and finish, as well as at selected spectator points along the route.
The Pilanesberg region is a two-hour drive from Gauteng and with the main event only starting at 08:00 on Saturday, September 27 fans need not get up too early to make the trip and take in some top class off road racing action.
