Zwartkops International World of Motoring hosts and boasts no fewer than four different types of motorsport and motoring for the family this Saturday (7 June). –
– The Big Z has it all. 20 action-packed events headed by the Thundercar field of over 30 cars including the Super Free State Saloons. This event will see if the screaming Mazda Calibra Rotary of Anton Britz can beat the might of the V8 muscle cars of Wimpy van Zyl, Richard Ransome and Mark du Toit, all against the Porsches of Hein Zimmer and Franz Pretorius, in turn chased all the way by the pack of highly-modified saloons headed by Franco Di Matteo’s Turbo Alfa. –
– The event will also host the dramatic and very fast DK Porsche Challenge Porsches of Frans Pretorius and Pierre de Waal. There is little to give between them, as seen at the last Zwartkops meeting. –
– The VW Challenge returns to Zwartkops with a full field of 22 cars. Class A sees Heinz Bose, the Ross and Master brothers all fighting for the same piece of tarmac at every turn. –
– Taking of two brothers fighting it out amongst themselves at the front the Du Toit brothers, Mark and Jonathan, will do their side-by-side racing as they contest the SuperHatch Challenge from the front. This formula continues to find favour, with the fields just getting better all the time. –
– Silvercup has confirmed a maximum entry of 35 cars. These road-tyred machines with Dawie Olivier, Rory Sharp, Neil Andrews and Shaun O’Connor all trying to get to the front will provide lots and lots of action. –
– The Lotus Challenge also has a full field. These perky cars achieve lap times almost equal to the big V8’s. A special entry is the Josh Dovey South African-built Caterham R400. For the single seater enthusiasts there will be Classic 1600 Formula Ford and Formula Libre. –
– Zwartkops Raceway is adding the family variety with a simultaneous Kart Inland Championship event on the Bridgestone International Kart Circuit. A full Rotax Max Challenge over all classes will be in action, plus Grand Prix and 60cc GP Junior kart events. All told there should be at least 350 racing entries between the Kart Circuit and the Big Z. A new record! –
– If that is not enough the new Zwartkops Off-Road Academy (ZORA) 4×4 Eco Circuit will be launched on the day. Special adventure drives will be on hand for the day, plus loads of skills and thrills on the Sasol DualFuel Skidpan, the biggest of its kind in Africa. –
– All this for R30 per person, children under the age of 14 free. Racing starts at 10h30. Super Sprint races at 14h30. For more info contact Charlene on (012) 374 5802 or visit www.zwartkops.co.za.
