Two prominent drivers will be missing from the line-up for the Toyota Dealer 400, the seventh round of the SA Off Road Car Racing Championship, which takes place in the Lydenburg area on October 24 and 25.
Morocco Rally winner Giniel de Villiers and Dakar star Alfie Cox have entered for the UAE Desert Challenge in Dubai, which ends on Friday, October 24.
De Villiers was recently contracted by Team Nissan to drive the new Nissan Hardbody in Dakar 2004 and will use the Dubai event to shakedown the South African designed and built Nissan in preparation for Dakar.
Alfie Cox missed the Sun City 400 due to a prior commitment to compete for KTM on the Egypt Rally and will also compete in the Dubai event, which is a round of the FIA World Cup for Cross Country Rallies. Cox made his four-wheel debut in the Arnold Chatz Cars Nissan Hardbody this year and promptly won Class D on two occasions.
Despite the absence of these drivers off road racing fans will not be starved of top class action when the Toyota Dealer 400 gets underway with a 36km prologue on Friday, October 24. The main event will start outside Lydenburg Toyota on the corner of Voortrekker and Lange Streets at 07:30 on Saturday, October 25.
