This weekend’s Midvaal race willplay host to the penultimate round of the 2003 SA Formula Vee championships and young David Veringa is out to consolidate his title lead in his Sabat Rhema. –
– Veringa, who has driven beyond his years this season, has shown the old hands the way in no uncertain terms and holds a 21-point title lead going into Saturday’s races following a consistent and impressive season so far. He plans to come away from Midvaal with his Sabat Rhema well in control of the series going into the final round. –
– "We have had a great year and we’ve led the way in the title race for quite a while now," David reflected. "We’re certainly feeling the pressure, but that’s racing and we’re looking at the championship now, so it’s going to be an interesting weekend indeed…" –
– David’s impressive progress through Formula Vee over the past two seasons has not gone unnoticed either and this time of the year is vital in planning for next season, where graduation to Formula Ford is a logical step. "Its an important time for us all-round," David’s manager and dad, Kenny reflected. "We want to go to Formula Ford next year – David has the ability and the qualifications now to shine there, so we’re really hoping for a good end to the year…" –
– Out to make David’s course to the title as difficult as possible, though, will be the recently very fast Denis Johns, Vee veterans Peter Hills, Alan Holm and Sym Grobler among several others, but the number 3 Sabat Rhema and its star of tomorrow driver Veringa go to Welkom in the championship hot seat…
