Pirelli–shod teams won the battles in Class E of the Toyota Desert race and San Marino round of the FIM World 600cc Supersport Championship yesterday (23 June), to take the lead in their respective international and national championships. –
– Running on the Pirelli PZero Nero off-road tyres, Manfred Schröder and Jack Peckham steered their turbo diesel Ford Ranger to the Class E win on the 1000km Toyota Desert Race, the 3rd round of the Bankfin S.A. Off-Road Championship held in Botswana. –
– The pair from KwaZulu Natal, the reigning Class E champions, also finished a commendable 8th overall amongst the Production Vehicles and have moved closer to the top in their class duel. –
– Doing three positions better overall (5th) and taking 2nd spot in Class D were Henri and Maurice Zermatten in their Playstation 2 Mitsubishi Pajero, also running well on the Pirelli PZero Nero compound. –
– At Misano, Italy, Frenchman Fabien Foret (Ten Kate Honda CBR 600 F) took the finishing flag first on Pirelli tyres after a brilliant four-way battle in round 6 of the FIM World Supersport Motorcycle Championship, to open up a 3 point lead over countryman Stephane Chambon (Suzuki GSX – 600). –
– Australian, Steve Martin, put in two encouraging performances on his DFX Racing Ducati Pirelli in the SBK class events taking 12th and 13th in this a development year for the Italian tyre manufacturer in the “big brother” FIM World Championship. –
