Audi A4 gains comprehensive facelift with added tech

Audi has made some significant changes to its A4, S4 and Allroad models as part of a mid-life cycle update. The changes include a number of new design cues and additional technology, including a 12 volt mild-hybrid system for certain models of the range.

As for the looks, the A4 range now features cues inspired by the brand’s current design philosophy which can be seen in the updated head- and taillamps (which are now LED as standard), single-frame grille and added contours to the profile and bumpers.

Changes within the cabin are subtle as many of the ancillary controls have been carried over, but the infotainment system has been tilted towards the driver. This updated MMI system focuses on acoustic and haptic inputs, thus doing away with the traditional rotary push button interface.

The six-engine line-up remains relatively unchanged, with power figures ranging from 110 kW to 260 kW. Three of these engines will be fitted with the brand’s mild-hybrid system which reportedly reduces fuel consumption by up to 0,3 L/100 km. The recently revealed S4 TDI boasts a 48v mild-hybrid system.

An edition one model will be offered as a sedan or avant with three engine options; the 180 kW 2,0T FSI, 140 kW 2,0 TDI and 170 kW 3,0 TDI. The S line interior and exterior complemented by the black styling package, along with the firm’s more upmarket “design selection” interior will be offered as options on these models.
