Mercedes-Benz South Africa has added the new Mercedes-AMG A35 Sedan to its local configurator, revealing pricing for the 225 kW saloon.

So, how much are you looking at here? Well, pricing starts at R766 566 (around R12 000 more than the A35 hatch), before any options have been specified.

And, of course, there are plenty. The list of extras includes a driving assistance package (R30 000), AMG aerodynamics package (R26 350), a panoramic sliding sunroof (R15 200), climatised front seats (R12 000) and a reversing camera (R5 500), to name but a small selection.

The all-paw A35 Sedan runs on 18-inch alloys are standard, while various 19-inch wheel designs will be offered as options. The MBUX infotainment system will ship standard, although upgrading to the 10,25-inch screen will cost you an extra R10 000 (and adding the MBUX interior assistant a further R4 500).

As a reminder, the A35 Sedan draws its urge from a turbocharged 2,0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine sending 225 kW and 400 N.m (the latter between 3 000 and 4 000 r/min) to all four corners via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. The firm promises an engine sound “typical of AMG”.

What sort of zero to 100 km/h time can you expect? Well, Mercedes-AMG claims a figure of 4,8 seconds (one-tenth tardier than the hatchback), along with an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h.
