British car modding outfit Kahn Design, the self-proclaimed “automotive fashion house” of the world, has revealed stealthy “Pace Car” exterior upgrades for the Range Rover Velar.
Dressed in Satin Black livery, the modified Velar has been equipped with an array of carbon-fibre bits, including a revised front grille and an imposing front spoiler. A large roof-mounted wing and boot spoiler have been fitted out back, both of which are hewn from this light-weight material. Glance down the sides of the Velar Pace Car and you’ll notice the wheel arches, now housing the firm’s 23-inch RS Pace Car alloys, have been extended. The suspension has been lowered, too.
The interior has been upholstered by its in-house team of craftsmen, the tuner says. The perforated Herringbone leather seats are hand-quilted. Bronze buttons, featuring Kahn Design’s mantra (“The road is my catwalk”), are fitted to each pew. Other bespoke items include a handcrafted steering wheel and aluminium pedals.
No performance upgrades are included in the Pace Car package. The model you see here (based on the Velar in P300-guise) employs a 2,0-litre four-cylinder turbopetrol, which is good for 221 kW and 400 N.m.
The £30 000 package, which translates to around R564 400 (at the current exchange rate) on top of the original list price is, however, not exclusive to P300 models. Kahn Design says it is also available for the Whitley-based automaker’s halo variant: the Range Rover Velar SVAutobiography Dynamic Edition, which employs Jaguar Land Rover’s full-fat 5,0-litre supercharged V8 unit.
Doing some quick maths, locally the base-spec P300 with the Pace Car kit would cost about R1 635 000. The performance derivative, on the other hand, would cost you some R2 278 000.
