While the latest Ford Focus ST is not offered here in South Africa, buyers in other markets now have the option of fitting this Mountune SMARTflash m330 package.
With the kit installed, the Focus ST’s turbocharged 2,3-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine is pushed from the standard 206 kW and 420 N.m to 243 kW and 515 N.m. Mountune says the kit has undergone rigorous testing. It claims a 0-97 km/h time of 5,2 seconds (the Blue Oval brand says the stock model will hit 100 km/h from standstill in 5,7 seconds).
A high-flow air filter is included in the package, while visual changes are seemingly limited to the addition of the firm’s branding around the car.
There’s also a SMARTflash app available, which allows for installation of updates from the comfort of your home. The app connects to a Bluetooth receiver fitted to the OBD port and gives owners the flexibility to adjust the car to suit their needs.
Three calibrations are included in the m330 package. The performance setting adds a more aggressive launch control function and enhances the exhaust note in sport and track modes. Stock performance mode reverts the car to its original state of tune, while anti-theft mode fully immobilises it.
