Porsche South Africa has announced local pricing for the new Macan GTS, with the newcomer slotting in below the Macan Turbo.

So, how much are you looking at? Well, the Macan GTS – which is due to launch locally in March 2020 – will be priced from R1 349 000 (or R1 399 000 should you wish to upgrade the three-year driveplan to one stretching five years).

As a reminder, the Macan GTS employs a twin-turbo 2,9-litre V6 petrol unit offering 280 kW (15 kW more than the GTS-badged model that went before it) and 520 N.m (up 20 N.m) to all four corners via a “newly adapted” PDK dual-clutch transmission with seven cogs.

Fit the optional Sport Chrono package (which will cost you an extra R20 570 here in South Africa) and Porsche claims the Macan GTS will blast from standstill to 100 km/h in 4,7 seconds before topping out at 261 km/h.

According to the Stuttgart-based firm, the Macan’s active suspension management damping control system has been “specially tuned” for the GTS, with the chassis also lowered by 15 mm for “greater lateral dynamics”. Adaptive air suspension is optionally offered with chassis lowering by a further 10 mm for an addition R26 720.

Some other interesting options from the lengthy list of extras include adaptive sports seats (R32 320), a panoramic sunroof (R29 070), ceramic composite brakes (R145 410) and a Burmester high-end surround sound system (R85 960).
