Mazda Southern Africa has finally added the CX-30 to its local range, with the newcomer slotting in between the smaller CX-3 and the larger CX-5.
Revealed back in April 2019, the sleekly styled CX-30 measures 4 395 mm in length, making it 120 mm longer than the CX-3 and 150 mm shorter than the CX-5.
The local CX-30 line-up comprises three derivatives at launch (with a choice of nine exterior colours), each powered by Mazda’s familiar naturally aspirated 2,0-litre SkyActiv-G engine, which sends 121 kW and 213 N.m to the front axle via a six-speed automatic transmission. As a reminder, this powertrain is also used in latest Mazda3 hatch and sedan line-up as well as the CX-5 range.
The new CX-30 range kicks off with the 2,0L Active at R469 000, with the mid-spec Dynamic variant coming in at R499 000. The Individual flagship, meanwhile, is priced at R540 000. Curiously, that makes the Active and Dynamic models a mere R100 less expensive than the similarly specced CX-5 versions (which are priced at R469 100 and R499 100, respectively).
LED headlamps, seven airbags, a head-up display and an 8,8-inch infotainment screen (with Apple Carplay and Android Auto functionality) ship standard across the range. Active and Dynamic models feature 16-inch grey metallic alloy wheels, while the Individual derivative upgrades to 18-inch silver metallic items.
Inside, the Active and Dynamic grades employ dark-grey cloth seats with black and navy blue accents on the dashboard (or an optional “greige” cloth seat trim for the Dynamic model). The Individual variant, meanwhile, is equipped with black perforated leather seats plus black and brown accents on the facia.
A three-year unlimited kilometre service plan is included as standard, along with a three-year warranty.
