Volkswagen has unveiled its fresh-faced ID Space Vizzion concept – the seventh model in the ID series – as an electric wagon boasting 250 kW.
The Wolfsburg-based firm claims the new showcar combines the aerodynamic qualities of a GT with the “generous interior space” of an SUV. And it claims the concept provides a “concrete outlook” to a series production version scheduled to be presented at the end of 2021.
The concept car runs on VW’S MEB platform and uses an 82 kWh battery to travel up to a claimed 590 km on a single charge. Thanks to its 250 kW system output and all-wheel drive, the ID Space Vizzion will hit 100 km/h from standstill in a claimed 5,4 seconds.
Interestingly, VW says “airflow apertures” have been integrated into the vehicle’s front end, allowing air to move through a horizontal panel between the headlamps before being directed to the rear over the low-slung bonnet.
Inside, the company says the compact dimensions of the electric drive unit and the fact the battery is integrated in the floor mean interior space is impressive considering the exterior dimensions. All entertainment, comfort and online functions, as well as vehicle settings, are grouped together on a 15,6-inch touchscreen as part of the fully digital cockpit.
