Nissan South Africa has rejigged its Qashqai range while also introducing a new NissanConnect 2,0 infotainment system in all but the base variant.

The local Qashqai line-up have been trimmed from seven to five derivatives, including a new 1,2T Tekna CVT flagship. Four of the five variants are powered by this 85 kW turbocharged four-cylinder petrol unit, while the remaining model comes in 81 kW 1,5dCi turbodiesel guise.

The Japanese firm says its new infotainment system “enhances the relationship between you and your vehicle” thanks to smartphone integration. There’s also a redesigned interface with a customisable home-screen and widgets as well as a handy “single line search” function.

In addition, the seven-inch touchscreen features a revised button layout and a new processor for “faster response”. NissanConnect 2.0 comes standard with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay as well as a reversing camera.

Nissan SA furthermore says driver assistance features such as emergency braking, forward collision warning, blind-spot warning and cross-traffic alert are now standard across the range.
