Pricing! Facelifted (and expanded) Lexus RX range hits South Africa…

By: CAR magazine

The facelifted Lexus RX has arrived in South Africa, with the local range growing from three to four variants.

Revealed in May 2019, the updated RX gains revised styling and improved on-board technology, including making a switch from the divisive controller-type “remote touch interface” to a trackpad-type version and adding a touchscreen display integrating Apple CarPlay.

As before, the local line-up includes the RX350 EX, the three-row RX350L EX and the flagship RX450h SE hybrid, but Lexus South Africa has also added a new F Sport derivative (the latter employing the RX350 powertrain).

Pricing starts at R1 012 000 for the RX350 EX and stretches to R1 315 800 for the RX450h SE.

From what we understand, the powertrains carry over unchanged. As a reminder, the RX350 employs a naturally aspirated 3,5-litre V6 offering 221 kW and 370 N.m to all four corners via an eight-speed automatic transmission. The RX350L EX, meanwhile, features the same powertrain but with peak outputs of 216 kW and 358 N.m.

Finally, the RX450h combines a slightly detuned version of the aforementioned petrol engine with an electric motor for peak system outputs of 230 kW and 335 N.m. This hybrid set-up includes a continuously variable transmission.

Pricing:
Lexus RX350 EX: R1 012 000
Lexus RX350L EX: R1 087 000
Lexus RX350 F Sport: R1 132 200
Lexus RX450h SE: R1 315 800
