Pricing! Peugeot 108 small hatchback touches down in South Africa…

First revealed in 2014, the Peugeot 108 hatchback has finally arrived in South Africa.

The sole 108 drivative in the range makes use of a 1,0-litre three-cylinder engine offering 53 kW at 6 000 r/min and 93 N.m of torque at 4 400 r/min. Mated exclusively with a five-speed manual ‘box, Peugeot says the small hatch will complete the 0-100 km/h dash in 13,1 seconds, before reaching a top speed of 160 km/h. The French automaker claims a combined fuel consumption figure of just 4,3 L/100 km. Fuel tank capacity is 35 litres.

Offered in Active specification, the 108 comes standard with ABS with EBD, ESP, EBA, four airbags and central locking.

Included in the package is a multifunction steering wheel, electric windows up front, a height-adjustable driver’s seat and a total of five cupholders. The air-conditioning system is manually operated.

A 3,5-inch touchscreen infotainment display includes smartphone mirroring functionality (via the MirrorLink application), as well as Bluetooth connectivity. A USB and auxiliary port, as well as a 12V socket, are also present.

The 108 has a wheelbase of 2 340 mm and measures 3 475 mm nose-to-tail. It stands 1 615 mm wide and 1 460 mm tall. Luggage space is a claimed 196 litres, while Peugeot says folding down the 50:50 split rear seats enhances packing space to 780 litres.

The Peugeot 108 Active 1,0 is priced at R179 900 and comes standard with a five-year/100 000 km service plan, plus a five-year/100 000 km warranty.
