Updated Jaguar F-Pace SVR is now even faster … and SA pricing is out!

The updated Jaguar F-Pace SVR has been revealed, now offering extra torque and an even quicker sprint to 100 km/h.

Scheduled to arrive in South Africa at some point in the “first half of 2021”, the upgraded F-Pace SVR is already available to order locally, with pricing starting at R1 835 700.

So, what’s new with the Coventry-based firm’s performance SUV? Well, the SVR sticks with Jaguar’s supercharged 5,0-litre V8 petrol engine, with delivers an unchanged 405 kW to all four corners. Peak torque, however, has increased some 20 units to 700 N.m.

As a result, says Jaguar, the SVR will now hit 100 km/h from standstill in 4,0 seconds, which makes it some three-tenths faster than the outgoing version. Top speed, meanwhile, increases slightly from 283 km/h to 286 km/h. CO2 emissions also fall from 281 g/km to 275 g/km, with claimed fuel economy now listed as 12,2 L/100 km.

Interestingly, Jaguar says the F-Pace SVR has also switched to the eight-speed torque-converter transmission used in the XE SV Project 8, which is capable of withstanding the “higher loads” produced. “Incremental tweaks” have also been made to the “dynamic” mode as well, while a new launch control setting contributes to the SVR’s quicker pull away.

Furthermore, the upgraded steering system delivers what Jaguar terms a “greater immediacy”, while the tuning of the adaptive damping provides a “more refined ride at low speeds”, something further improved by revised chassis bushes.

In addition, the British company has added a new integrated power booster to the recalibrated braking system, resulting in what it describes as “a sportier and shorter brake pedal”. The updated exterior design, meanwhile, sees a slight improvement in aerodynamic efficiency.

And inside? Well, Jaguar says the cabin has been “comprehensively redesigned”, with the seat and door inserts now finished in Alcantara and elements such as the central storage area now wrapped in Windsor leather. The 12,3-inch digital instrument cluster is surrounded by Alcantara with ebony stitching, while aluminium patterned finishers have been added to the mix, too.

Jaguar also offers optional “slim-line” semi-aniline leather sports seats with heritage logo-inspired diamond embroidery across the front shoulder section and a “unique perforation” across the backrest. The new gear lever gains a dimpled leather finish with heritage logo-inspired detailing and the “SVR” logo, while the split-rim steering wheel is also fresh, gaining zinc-alloy shift paddles.
