Designed to help humans, these robots could very well be repairing your car in a few years. They will fetch tools, carry spare parts and even change a wheel. With spanners and screwdrivers fitted into their hands, they could do virtually any job.
The Robo-Mechanic has video camera eyes to recognise hand gestures and is being programmed to understand spoken instructions as well. When it detects obstacles, its legs can step over them while electric motors will power its wheels to a seven km/h top speed and it can work for up to four hours without needing to be refilled with petrol.
According to the Finnish inventors responsible for these creations have spent about R11 million over six years fine-tuning them.
