Lexus South Africa unveiled its exclusive LFA supercar in Johannesburg yesterday. The hand-assembled supercar will be limited to a production run of only 500 units. Car number 64 is one of three destined for SA, which makes the odds of seeing one extremely remote.
LFA was conceived and built entirely in-house by Lexus. It features an all-alloy V10, which screams to 9 000 r/min. Maximum power is 412 kW and peak torque is 480 N.m developed at 7 000 r/min, 90 per cent of which is available from 3 700 r/min all the way to 9 000 r/min. Zero to 100 km/h takes a claimed 3,7 seconds and maximum speed is quoted as 325 km/h.
“The LFA is a thoroughbred supercar, a machine engineered to deliver a supreme driving experience and we are extremely fortunate to have three of these rare vehicles coming to South Africa,” says Dr Johan Van Zyl, president and CEO of Toyota South Africa Motors. “It’s a true collector’s item for the most passionate and discerning of motoring enthusiasts.”
We have not managed to secure a test car as yet, but the moment we have one to drive you will be able to read about it and see it in action, right here.
