Maserati is readying the GranTurismo MC Stradale, which the firm describes as the fastest, lightest and most powerful addition to its stable, for its launch at this year’s Paris Motor Show.
According to Maserati, the MC Stradale is the company’s answer to customer demands for a GT model with more power and a track-going bias. The new car draws its inspiration from the Trofeo GranTurismo MC and GT4 race cars and implements “handling and aerodynamic lessons learned from Maserati’s three racing programmes”.
Based on the GranTurismo S, the MC Stradale is powered by an uprated version of that car’s 4,7-litre V8 powerplant mated with the six-speed robotized manual transmission from the S. Although Maserati has yet to disclose acceleration figures, the 336 kW MC Stradale is reportedly good for a top speed of 300 km/h.
Stylistically, the MC Stradale cuts a more low-slung, purposeful stance than its lesser siblings. Up front, the nose sports a more prominent grille and a deeper bumper with additional venting. New side skirts, a rear valance featuring a diffuser with twin exhaust tips mounted above it and a set of lightweight alloy wheels are among the features that aid aerodynamics and reduce kerb weight.
Much of the MC Stradale’s underpinnings have been lifted from the GT S, but Maserati has pointed out that the chassis has been tuned with a view to improving overall agility and handling without adversely affecting ride quality.
Maserati will disclose more information regarding this model closer to its official unveiling at the Paris Motor Show.
