VW's Amarok has proven to be quite popular on the local sales charts. One of the unique features of this model is the option of an eight-speed automatic transmission. However, if you were keen on this variant then you had to opt for a 4x4 model, until now... Buyers can now choose to order an Amarok double cab automatic with just rear-wheel drive.
Less mass equal better consumption
The 2,0 litre BiTDI has peak power of 132 kW and maximum torque of 420 N.m, the latter is available at a lowly 1 750 r/min. Top speed is quoted as 180 km/h. According to VW it only takes 10,6 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h. Thanks to the reduced mass and the efficient transmission the new derivative has a combined fuel consumption of 8,2 litres/100 km and CO2 emissions of 216 g/km.
The Amarok double cab automatic is offered in Highline trim, that is to say standard equipment includes daytime running lights, park distance control (rear), 17-inch alloy wheels, an MP3 compatible radio with CD player, 2-zone climate control, electrically foldable mirrors, storage drawers under front seats, cruise control and 12-volt socket in centre console, dashboard and load box. Standard safety features include ESP with brake assist and Hill Start/Hill Descent assist, ABS including an off-road setting, driver and front passenger airbags.
The Amarok double cab 2,0 BiTDI 4x2 Auto sells for R467 700. Included in that price is a 3 year/100 000 km manufacturer warranty, 5 year/90 000 km Automotion service plan and 6 year anti-corrosion warranty.
