Aston Martin has signalled its return to the international racing circuit with its racy DBR9 ready to do duty at the next Le Mans.
Based on Aston Martin’s latest DB9, the racing version is designed, developed and managed by tuning house Prodrive.
The first DBR9 is currently being prepared and will compete in selected international sports car events, including Le Mans 24 Hours, in 2005.
Thereafter, three independent works teams with two DBR9’s each will be appointed to compete in other international racing series, possibly including the European GT Championship, European Le Mans Series (ELMS) and American Le Mans Series (ALMS).
A limited number of racing edition cars will be made available to private owners, prepared to the same specification as the “works” cars.
