Take one supercar with face-distorting performance and dispense with the roof – it’s a logical step…for Lamborghini.

Lamborghini has only just lifted the wraps from its devilishly quick Murcielago LP670-4 SV, now the Sant’ Agata firm is readying yet another outlandish creation for an upcoming motor show.
Lamborghini claims that the catchily-named Murcielago LP650-4 Roadster will offer SV-rivaling performance with the added bonus of toupee-ruffling open top motoring. This model will feature the same 6,5-litre V12 found in the Reventon, good for 485 kW. Power is channeled to all four-wheels enabling the Murcielago LP650-4 Roadster to hit 100 km/h from standstill in just 3,4 seconds and a follicle-wrenching 330 km/h top speed.
If the concept of a wheeled open-top equivalent of an exocet missile is not enough to garner admiring glances, the car’s paint scheme might just succeed. The overall colour comprises a matte grey finish with bright orange accents on the front spoiler lip and the leading edges of the side airs coops. This unconventional design scheme is echoed in the cabin with orange detailing evident on the car’s shift paddles and certain trim panels, complimented by Alcantara and carbon-fibre accents, of course.
Just 50 units of this car are expected to be produced and a New York Motor Show unveiling seems likely. As niche and unconventional as it may be, the LP650-4 Roadster at least show that Lamborghini is serious about wheeling out a new model for each one of this year’s upcoming motor shows.
