Audi is planning a performance offensive at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show with the unveiling of its new S6 in salon and Avant guises, as well as the S7 and range-topping S8.
The Ingolstad firm has released a host of images as well as a lengthy press release that you can read by clicking on the DOCUMENT tab at the top of the article.
Kicking off the range is the new S6, which will be powered by a new 4,0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine developed in conjunction with Bentley. Developing 309 kW and 550 N.m of torque, this unit will propel the S6 from 0 to 100 km/h in 4,8 seconds and the S6 Avant in 4,9 seconds on the way to an electronically-limited top speed of 250 km/h. In addition to the prodigious grunt it serves up, this unit also features cylinder deactivation to reduce fuel consumption as well as a noise-cancelling system to improve refinement.
The S7 will share its powerplant with the S6 as well as its 7-speed S-tronic automatic transmission and Quattro all-wheel drivetrain.
The S8 will be powered by a tuned version of the twin-turbo 4,0-litre V8 with 382 kW and 650 N.m of torque on tap – enough to crack 0 to 100 km/h in 4,2 seconds and a top speed limited to 250 km/h.
Along with the new engine, these models will also usher in tweaked chassis and suspension set-ups, model-specific wheels and trim as well as a host of other features that are outlined in the attached press release.
