Audi is preparing to lift the wraps off what looks like the upcoming A3 Saloon in an online reveal taking place on March 27.
The car in question appears to be a compact four-door –an assertion that is strongly hinted at with the video presenter describing the mystery car as “the hottest seat in town.”
From what can be gathered from the myriad of creases in the tarp adorning the car, it appears to fit in with the chiselled appearance of the A3 Saloon that CAR editor Hannes Oosthuizen had the privilege of seeing at a recent Audi business session.
The A3 Saloon is underpinned by the same MQB modular platform doing service in the new A3 Sportback. It is slightly longer than the Sportback, but the only items common the both cars are the grille and headlamps.
The engine line-up has yet to be divulged, but it’s fair to expect that it will initially mirror that of the new A3 Sportback; a choice of two newly-developed TDI and two TFSI engines with displacements and outputs ranging from 1,4- to 2,0 litres and 77 kW to 132 kW, respectively.
This model should arrive in South Africa early next year.
