Fans of one of Audi’s most popular models, the A4 1,8T, will now have something more to rave about as the marque has introduced a 140kW version.
Time for the zero to 100km/h dash is 8,2 seconds, with a top speed of 236km/h. This compares with 8,6 seconds produced by the 120kW model with a top end of 228 km/h.
The dual overhead cam 1,8 turbocharged engine with intercooler provides the 6-speed 140kW model’s power. The standard 5-speed or Multitronic 120kW version will remain a feature of the model line-up.
The revised version comes standard with lowered sports suspension and 17-inch alloy wheels. Wider tyres also help to improve its stance on the road. The A4 1,8T 140kW can be distinguished by the red ‘T’ following the 1.8 badge.
On the inside, the sport seats with electric lumbar support and a three-spoke steering wheel complete the picture.
According to Audi’s general manager of sales & marketing, Mike Glendinning, “Audi SA has introduced the A4 1.8T 140kW aimed at providing an affordable sporting performance model within the Audi A4 range and the highly competitive B-segment.
“With this model, we can now service the needs of the enthusiast and enhance the overall appeal and performance image of the Audi brand,” he said.
The A4 1,8T sells for R274 000.
