Auto Africa Expo 2002 will comprise specially constructed courses and a 4×4 village to cater for the interests of SA’s off-road enthusiasts.
This year’s event, at the National Exhibition Centre in Nasrec, south of Johannesburg, from October 23 to 27, will “cater for the wide range of interests of the rapidly increasing 4×4 market sector”, organisers said on Monday.
There will be a 4X4 track for vehicles with low-range gear configuration, a leisure (non-low range) vehicle circuit and a 4×4 village, which will house exhibits on a wide range of off-road vehicle accessories and products.
“The tracks were being specifically constructed in order to fully demonstrate the features and capabilities of the vehicles,” Pula Dippenaar, director of Auto Africa Expo 2002, said.
“The average price of off-road vehicles is R300 000 and this facility will offer prospective buyers a valuable guide to vehicles,” she added.
Expo visitors will obtain tickets from the manufacturers of particular vehicles in the passenger and leisure halls, and then present these at the company’s hospitality area at the track where an expert driver will accompany patrons on a drive on the track. The expert driver will answer any questions visitors may have.
Next to the tracks will be a vast 4×4 village where specialist off-road and outdoor equipment such as caravans, trailers, roofracks, shocks, rooftop tents, cooling units and more will be exhibited.
The show, which will be open to the public from Wednesday October 23 to Sunday October 27, will have three halls devoted the latest and most advanced passenger and leisure vehicles, as well as dedicated halls for the heavy truck industry, component manufacturers, garage equipment and collision repair industries.
In addition, the CAR Conference, the most important business conference focusing on the South African motor industry, will take place at Auto Africa on October 23.
The conference will provide a valuable insight into expected future global trends in the automotive industry. Local and international industry leaders will address strategies for motor retailing in the future, as well as anticipated changes in local customer profiles and buying behaviour.
