Almost a million readers will have access to what used to be a predominantly Internet-based service when a 48-page Autolocator Classifieds insert is distributed with the March issue of CAR.

The fledgling online vehicle search facility lists more than 8 000 used vehicles at franchises operated by dealer groups such as Barloworld Motor, VW Mastercars, Nissan, Combined Motor Holdings and Super Group Dealerships, as well as many independent dealers, all of whom are members of the Retail Motor Industry.

But in addition to doing an online search or phoning the 0860 580 580 hotline, a potential buyer will reach be able to scan one of a 100 000 copies of the print offering inserted bi-monthly into CAR magazine, which has a readership of 1 072 000.

"CAR was selected because of its compatibility with Autolocator's target market," said Autolocator's managing director, Mike von Höne. "CAR offers the ideal distribution coverage to achieve a maximum reach within the SA motoring industry.

As CARtoday.com reported recently, the listings in the Autolocator Classifieds are broken down by province, detailing each vehicle's make and model, colour, mileage, year and price, so that it works as a quick reference guide. Each entry has a reference number, which prospective buyers quote when they call the Autolocator hotline.

"We will check the availability of the vehicle and arrange for the dealer to contact the customer," said Von Höne. "If that vehicle had been sold, we would attempt to source an equivalent vehicle on the buyer's behalf."
