Avis has implemented a new round-the-clock transfer service, Point-to-Point, in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban.
The service caters for airport transfers, meetings and basically any city-wide tourist destinations and has been designed to fill the gap between taxi, self-drive and luxury chauffeur services.
“We developed Point-to-Point on the basis of customer feedback that indicated a need for a service which transports people from point A to point B in a reliable vehicle … This is particularly welcome in a country where the public transport system is still developing,” said Avis executive, Gill Bowmaker.
Point-to-Point uses saloons for up to three passengers and multi-purpose vehicles for up to seven and all are operated by professionals familiar with the areas in which they operate.
The service works on a zone system and all arrangements can be made through Avis central reservations. For security reasons, no cash is handled and all payments are made through Avis or charge cards, credit cards and airline and hotel vouchers.
