Whenever artists and entities in the automotive industry join forces, it usually results in some jaw-dropping creations. The wireframe 911 sculpture crated by Bennedict Radcliffe celebrating the collaboration of Porsche x RIMOWA is no exception.
The Porsche 934 911 is by far one of the most iconic cars in the history of the automotive industry. That said, the perfect car to create a life-size custom-built replica to celebrate Porsche’s latest venture using only stainless steel tubing would be a Porsche 934 911. The sculpture depicts the body lines of the classic Porsche with “Radcliffe” placed on the rear where a number plate would be and “RIMOWA” on the door panels. Interestingly, the BBS-Eque wheels found on the wireframe sculpture give a certain twist to the appearance of the “car”. They were most likely provided by VoodooMotorsport.
Benedict Radcliffe is a London-based artist who has a history of creating replica car sculptures using custom bent tubes. A lot of his work revolves around wireframe sculptures. From a wireframe Ferrari F40 or Porsche 935 and event British taxi cab, Radcliffe’s work span multiple motoring worlds, with each creation showcasing his outstanding talent and ability to recreate these cars with incredible precision.
Porsche and RIMOWA have commented that their goals and values align with one another. While both are German brands interested in a high-octane vision, RIMOWA doesn’t create cars instead, they create high-quality briefcases and bags. Placed at the front of the wireframe sculpture -where you’d typically find an assortment of wires, hoses, bracing, and fuel tanks- is the result of the RIMOWA x Porsche collaboration, the Hand-Carry Case Pepita. This steel coloured briefcase features grooved aluminum and is said to draw inspiration from the classic 911 generation. Bright and bold in the centre of the case is the older version of the Porsche emblem.
Although Radcliffe has created artwork far more detailed ad complex than this, birthing a full-sized wireframe replica takes some serious skill. Hats off to you Benedict Radcliffe.
