Carlsson Autotechnik GmbH, renowned tuner of Mercedes-Benz automobiles, has had a shot at the latest incarnation of the SL 500, the three-star manufacturer’s premium offering in the high-end roadster segment, and transformed it into the CK50.

The tuning package includes a discreet aerodynamics package, consisting of a length adjustable front spoiler lip (made of polyurethane or carbon fibre), “electropolished” stainless steel grille inserts for air inlets, air outlet gill vents with carbon supports, and rear spoiler to add to the standard list of AMG styling already fitted to some models.

The 5,5-litre V8 has been massaged to produce 320 kW at 6 000 r/min and 600 N.m of torque at 2 800 r/min with an optimised electronic control unit and modified exhaust system that makes its presence felt via four high-polished stainless-steel exhaust tips. The re-fettled control unit now allows a maximum velocity of 293 km/h, as opposed to the standard 250 km/h limiter, with zero to 100 km/h sprints completed in 5,1 seconds. Carlsson’s tuning kit for the SL also extends to the CK65, with over 520 kW and 1 100 N.m of torque.

The electronic C-Tronic suspension system for the SL lowers the vehicle a further 30 mm and automatically adjusts height according to road conditions accordingly. A lowered centre of gravity, reduced body roll, and superior agility ensure also provides improved handling. Carlsson has also equipped the CK50 with 19-inch forged wheels (20-inch optional) wrapped in 255/30 and 305/25 rubber front and rear.

The interior of the CK50 can be decked out in any choice of colour, and the speedometer has been extended so that it can read until 360 km/h. Leather seats, various forms of entertainment, and, if this package is still not enough, various re-modelling components are available on the CK50.
