Late last year we brought you information on a new small BMW, the 1 Series Sedan. You can read that story here. It seems that momentum is building as Worldcarfans.com recently posted this video of a model undergoing dynamic testing at the Nurburgring.
As you can hear and see, there is plenty of tyre squeal and understeer, not the usual oversteer that is normally seen when BMW test drivers are pushing their cars to the limits, giving us an indication that the 1 Series Sedan will be based on the Mini/Active Tourer platform i.e. it will be front-wheel drive.
The initial report claims that the 1 Series Sedan will be a China-only model, though with Audi’s A3 Sedan and Mercedes’ CLA models gaining popularity we can’t see BMW restricting itself to sales only in the Far East.
This heavily camouflaged test mule could be hiding a production-ready body, which means that we could see the 1 Series Sedan appear at a major motor show later this year.
